Richard Szymkewicz, 91, of Tarentum, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot. He was the widower of Gloria Szymkewicz, who died Oct. 11, 2017. He was born Feb. 15, 1927, in Natrona, and lived in this area all of his life. He served in the Marines during World War II. He was a millwright for PPG Creighton for 38 years, retiring in 1981. He was the son of the late Anthony Szymkewicz and Mary Syput. He was a member of Holy Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, Tarentum, a life member of Post 48 Natrona, enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and hunting and spending time with grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Richard Sims (Debra), of Louisburg, N.C., and Mathew Sims (Cheryl), of Raleigh, N.C.; three daughters, Paula Ann Keryeski (Michael), of Lower Burrell, Claudia Price (Michael), of Natick, Mass., and Vanessa Luchok (Paul), of Napierville, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, Anthony and Mary Syput Szymkewicz, wife Gloria Szymkewicz, who died Oct. 11, 2017; five sisters, Regina Kruseski, Valeria Gorney, Irene Zbieronowski, Henrietta Vokish and Florence Szymkewicz; and two brothers, Sylvester Gorney and Daniel Szymkewicz. The family requests no public visitation and all services to be private. The funeral service is under the direction of the KRYNICKI FUNERAL HOME INC., 1007 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065.
