Addison D. Brainard, 92, widower of Margaret Easton Brainard, of Natrona Heights, died Monday, May 8, 2017, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Winfield Township, after a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 9, 1924, in Rochester, N.Y. He served in the Army and received a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. He was a mechanical engineer for Bell Aerospace Niagara Falls for 25 years, retiring in 1989. He was the son of the late William Brainard and Lillian Makin. He was a member of Christ Community Fellowship, Sarver. He enjoyed reading, crosswords and watching Jeopardy. He drove a golf cart for a retirement community and also volunteered as cashier for Thrift Store at the retirement community. He was involved with Kairos prison ministry, Western New York. Survivors include his two daughters, Esther Schnur (Charles), of Harrison Township, and Kathleen 'Kate' Brainard-Lee (Tim), of Brackenridge; four grandchildren, Laura Jones (Robert), Carl Schnur (Jeannie), Julie Stuck (Jonathan) and Aaron Ghent; and four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Tenley, Bennett and Ashley. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lillian Makin Brainard; and wife, Margaret (Easton) Brainard. Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, N.C. 28607-3000. The family has requested that there be no public visitation and services will be private.
